It’s official – I have lost my mind. I have 6 cats in my house. Yesterday I became a foster mom to a cat (I named him Felix) who’s been a fixture in my yard for the past few weeks. He went to the vets yesterday and has all sorts of health problems, but all treatable with antibiotics (PHEW!). I am fostering him through a FANTASTIC organization here in Ottawa called , who are graciously paying for all his medical bills. He has to live in my second bedroom until I get some test results back, so things are a little “hairy” at my house. 🙂 Pun intended. I wanted to post this because I am very grateful they are helping Felix and I hope they can find him a great home, especially since he turned out to be such an amazing cat. They are having their in a couple weekends so I thought I’d plug that too, because that would be a blast…and I may be their photographer. 🙂 So I’d like to introduce you to the newest (though hopefully temporary) member of my brood, Felix, one of the luckiest cats around.
So forget about my post the other day about the Eames shell side chair that I found that I was going to make my office chair. That will now be an office visitors chair. Because I scored this a couple hours ago, for $160:
What’s kind of funny is the guy I bought the yellow chair from was supposed to email me a photo of a kelly green shell chair he had that I told him I was interested in (he never did). I’m glad he didn’t because this one is WAY better!!! (And ignore the background of the photo – my office needs ALOT of work).
For the first time in a long time, I went thrifting yesterday. Now that I have sold my house and bought another, things have calmed down and I have a bit of spare time before the packing nightmare begins. (I don’t want to say anything else about the house because it’s in my lawyer’s hands right now and I don’t want to jinx it, but as soon as it’s a done deal I will post some photos). I ended up going a little nuts at my favourite thrift shop. It’s about an hour away in a small town west of the city, and it proved to be worth the drive. And luckily, I had my parent’s SUV to fill. Since I am moving, there will unfortunately be no photos of these in their new homes anytime soon. I am just going to have to pack these up for the time being. And there are a couple other things I bought but they are for my niece for Christmas and my sister doesn’t want to see them early.
UPDATE: We went to yet another of my favourite thrift stores this afternoon. Bought more junk. Must stop going thrifting. Very dangerous. I am broke.
It appears Lisa and I are embarking on some pretty big ventures at the moment and I wanted to take the time for a little shameless plug for each of us. Let’s start with me, since I have a wee bit more at stake. My house is up for sale, and I’m really proud of ALL the work we’ve put into this place. But it’s time for me to move on. So if anyone out there is looking for a townhouse renovated and decorated by yours truly in Ottawa (Kanata actually)…
Lisa has recently opened her and it’s stocked of some of the most amazing artwork. She is so freaking talented. And I am so fortunate to already own several of her pieces. I’m like a proud Mom. The first two are photos of ones I own, and the other two she has available in her shop, that I am also itching to own.
I have been thinking about whether or not to post this for several days now. I don’t usually like to post about me, except maybe my great thrift finds or house renovations, but I have been feeling guilty for the past week and thought I should post a little note to apologize for my lack of comments on everyone’s blogs (and on this blog for that matter). My life has been quite chaotic lately – to be brief, my boyfriend of 6 years and I have decided to take a break, so for the first time in five and a half years, I will be living on my own. In the past week I also found a new house and have been trying to buy it and have been going through hell to do so. I still don’t have the house and am not hopeful that I will get it. So in the next little while, whether I end up selling my current home or not, I’m going to be pretty busy with non-blog-related stuff. I have only had enough time to publish my posts that I prepare on weekends and Lisa and I have some blogging commitments coming up that I have to get ready for. So I am pretty stressed for time these days, and my apologies for not being able to visit all my favourite blogs on a daily basis. I’ve included some photos above of some of my favourite rooms in this house…if I end up selling I will miss this place, but I think a change would be really good right about now.
