Glam with lots of black and brass

Posted on Thu, 28 Mar 2019 by KiM

(head of design at ) defines her style as Parisian modern – a chic contrast of the minimal, the ornate, and the edgy. I would add glamorous to that list, which is evident in this black, dark blue, and more black home she designed, with lots and lots of brass accents. The dining room light fixture alone speaks volumes of her style. Love it!!!

A colourful kitchen

Who would have thought that rich green cabinetry and a pretty in pink marble would form the basis of a knock out kitchen? Add a wall of mirror, textured tile and brass accents and you might be forgiven for thinking that the whole thing a tad OTT but no! It’s glamourous and practical, fun and functional. Love it! A London townhouse that packs a punch

This Hampstead, London townhouse designed by , is overflowing with personality and I absolutely love it.

If Carmela Soprano lived in NW3 and not New Jersey, her kitchen would totally look like this

An excavated basement creates space for a sunken living room and dining platform

Witty vignettes, irreverent colour palettes and artworks add dramatic layers that evolve with the house

Picture Gram Parsons and Emmy Lou Harris jamming within a haze of copal incense in this attic

Modernizing an Arts & Crafts home

Posted on Tue, 12 Mar 2019 by KiM

I wanted to share another to-die-for project by London design firm . A 5 bed Arts & Crafts home given our modern twist with contemporary craft and bespoke elements. It was love at first sight and we wanted to maintain the strong heritage of the architecture, whilst bringing it up to date with our new take. We created a bespoke colourway of our floral, handprinted, wallpaper (designed in collaboration with Custhom) and our hand knotted rug for FloorStory. Giving a through-line on the ground floor – our personal take on the nature inspired prints of William Morris. Much of the original oak panelling, doors and pillars is left lovingly exposed, with the rest of the home given a neutral base to let the artworks and antique pieces shine. The lighting in the hallway, and throughout in brass and black metal, has a leaf motif that is entirely appropriate for the Arts & Crafts movement, yet adds a modern wit.

A bespoke brass and oak dining table, commissioned by us from british design brand, Novocastrian, with contemporary chairs by Ercol, becomes the centrepiece of the home.

The Liberty of London upholstery on the banquet seating giving another nod to the cultural heritage of the property.

magazine is a favourite of mine and has been for as long as I can remember, so I find their website is a wonderful source for fabulously designed Canadian homes. I thought I would share some that have caught my eye recently.
