Stalking old and new

What happens when old meets new? I’m still real estate stalking. South Yarra in Melbourne to be exact. An iron lace confection in stately grounds. High Victorian decoration meets eames chairs. At the rear a modern extension of metal and glass, timber and marble. Mid century classics and sleek lines. Does it do it for you? Do you have several million? For sale of course. Link while it lasts.

Morgana says:

Surprising combination of old with the new !

clp says:

I like the style and the decorating just not convinced the extension is worthy though – the kitchen is rather mediocre given the grandeur of the rest of the house

lea says:

decorating is so contrived. it does not look like a home at all.

Jamie says:

The architecture is amazing, but I must agree with Lea. The fifth and sixth pictures showing all the iconic chairs just dumped in the middle of the room…totally not a useable space (where do you put your drink down??). It is my pet peeve when architects just stick a bunch of mid-century modern furniture pieces in a room and call it a day. Grr…

beautifulhomethings says:

Have to agree with alot said here, architecture is amazing. But inside lacks imagination, not even a range of classic design chairs but the same ones used over. And unfortunately, like a lot of modern "show houses", no warmth, soft furnishing or tactile inviting quality that welcomes you into a home

Melanie says:

If you ever stop real estate stalking, I just don't know what I'd do. I am always awestruck. I am such a fan of Australian architecture, whether old or new, and am especially fond of Melbourne's Victorian styles. Heaven!
